Book 4 in the Wait for You series
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Summery from Goodreads:
Jennifer L. Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of the Wait for You series, delivers a new novel of first love, second chances, and scorching chemistry between an artistic bartender and the tough, sexy cop who’s determined to win her Roxy’s loved Reece Anders since she was fifteen, so when the straitlaced cop finally surrendered to a steamy encounter years later, Roxy hoped he’d fall for her, too. He didn’t. Or that’s what she’s always believed. But then Reece storms back into her life when the man who injured her childhood friend is out of prison and wanting to make amends—something Roxy cannot do.
The last thing she wants is to go there with Reece again, but he’s determined to prove to her that he’s exactly what she needs. Especially when a sick creep starts messing with her. But what’s more dangerous to Roxy—a psycho after her or the past that refuses to let go and allow her to open up her heart again?
Roxy has been in love with Reese since she was 15. When he was the hot older(by 3 years)boy next door. After he returns from war years later they become really close friends. After one late night encounter 11 months ago they haven’t spoken until Reese breaks the stand off. Only to tell her that the man who attacked her best friend is out on parole and wants to meet her to make amends. Also that he misses her and wants her back in his life. Can Roxy let Reese in and trust that not everything ends in heartbreak?
Roxy is an artist. Something I have always envied because I can’t draw a thing. Maybe a stick figure. I found it intersecting to hear Roxy talk about shades, colors, ect… Finally a heroine who wears glasses and makes them sexy. Romance needs more heroines who wear glasses and more covers of the women in the glasses. I can’t imagine being in Roxy’s shoes. To have your best friend attacked and left in a coma like state. Here physically but not mentally. I don’t know which would be worse them being dead and at peace or alive but nothing left of who they are. I love Roxy’s wit and humor but you can see the sadness that is in her. Roxy is scared to love Reese because of his job being so dangerous and she doesn’t want to lose another person she loves.
Reese is a cop. Dang do I love a man in uniform. I really liked his character and seeing his struggle with having to kill someone on the job was so raw and emotional. I pray I am never in that situation were I have to make a choice if it’s him or me. I loved how Reese was always there for Roxy though the book and seemed to know what she needed before she did. Reese and Roxy have a connection that runs deep and sometimes much deeper then they know. Reese and Roxy have one of the hottest sex scenes in the whole Wait for You series so far. Hot Dang.
I enjoyed the mystery element and loved the suspense it added to the story. I wish there was flashback scenes to the “when he got back from war time”and “after the shooting time”. Instead of the author just telling us about it. It is my only complaint. Katie was a hoot as always. I have always loved her psychic stripper powers. I thought the ending was a great lesson in forgiveness and perfect for Roxy and Reese’s characters. I can’t wait for Colton’s(Reese’s brother)story to come out in June and Nick’s story coming out later this year.
