Book 2 in The After Hours series
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Summery from Goodreads:
The wrong man never felt so right…
Ex-fighter Reed Miller has been secretly lusting over his best friend’s girl for months, but he refuses to jeopardize a friendship over a woman—especially one who doesn’t like him all that much. Now that Darcy’s on the market again, it’s even more imperative to stick to his strict hands-off policy. But the sizzling attraction between them is too powerful to ignore, and once he’s had a taste of her…all bets are off.
Darcy Grant is tired of walking the straight and narrow path. She’s on the hunt for passion, and there’s no denying Reed is just the man to give it to her. Although she has no interest in dating a bad boy, and certainly not her ex’s best friend, it’s impossible not to melt beneath Reed’s skillful touch. Now it’s just a matter of setting a few ground rules—and hoping her rule-breaking, sweet-talking bad boy agrees to follow them. But if she lets Reed into her bed, does she stand a chance of keeping him out of her heart?
Falling in love with your best friend’s girlfriend is a bad idea. So it sucks when Reed Miller an ex-MMA fighter falls in love with AJ (his best friend’s)girl. But he would never jeopardize his friendship with AJ over a girl. When they break up he still can’t date her. She’s his best friend’s ex. Darcy and AJ have everything but chemistry. So they decide to break up. When Darcy and Reed discover they have chemistry will they let AJ and Darcy’s past relationship and Reed’s player life get in the way of having something more then a fling?
First off I want to kinda gloat because I knew Reed was in love with Darcy in One Night of Sin but her being AJ’s girl made her off-limits. Reed felt so bad for falling for his best friend’s girlfriend and that has to be one of the worst things to ever happen to someone. Reed’s guilt over it was so heartbreaking and real. Reed really is a great guy. He was really immature and a player but he has grow-up and is looking for a real relationship. I respect him for changing his life. He went from being an irresponsible jerk to a respectable business man. Reed is very closed off emotionally and can understand that. He didn’t have any parents and his childhood was lonely until he meet AJ. When he meet AJ he finally had someone to care about and to care about him.
I love Darcy. She teaches at a low income school and really cares about her students. Darcy doesn’t want a serious relationship with Reed because she thinks he isn’t responsible or serious about a relationship. Darcy has an irresponsible father and that is one of the reasons she never dates anyone but nice or safe guys like AJ. I think she was so worried about Reed becoming her father that is why she denies her feelings for him for so long. Finally happy to see they find the guy who is dealing drugs at Sin. It was talked about in One Night to Sin. Which I was happy to see Skyler and Gage are still adorable together.
The sex was really steamy between these two. Reed is first rate dirty talker. Reed and Darcy are both such passionate people inside and outside the bedroom. I loved the ending before the epilogue. It was so sweet. It reminds me of the country music song by George Strait called Check Yes or No. Darcy and Reed are perfect together. I can’t wait for the last book in the trilogy. It’s AJ’s and can’t wait for him to get his happy ending.
