Book Summery from Goodreads:

Fans of the Divergent series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth will be thrilled by Four: A Divergent Collection, a fourth volume in the Divergent series.

Readers first encountered Tobias Eaton as “Four” in Divergent. His voice is an integral part of Allegiant. Readers will find more of this charismatic character’s backstory told from his own perspective in Four: A Divergent Collection. When read together, these long narrative pieces illuminate the defining moments in Tobias Eaton’s life. The first three pieces in this volume–“The Transfer,” “The Initiate,” and “The Son”–follow Tobias’s transfer from Abnegation to Dauntless, his Dauntless initiation, and the first clues that a foul plan is brewing in the leadership of two factions. The fourth story, “The Traitor,” runs parallel with the events of Divergent, giving readers a glimpse into the decisions of loyalty–and love–that Tobias makes in the weeks after he meets Tris Prior.

My Review:

It is hard to write a review for short stories for me and it’s harder when they are all by a different author.Thankful I only had the challenge of reviewing short stories by one author.I am going to give a short summery of each story and then say a few things about them.Thankfully for me all the stories came out the same rating so I can rate the whole book.

The Transfer is about how and why Four choose Dauntless and you get to see his thought process as he makes that decision.Plus you get a brief glimpse of his home life and first day of his being a Dauntless Initiate.I enjoyed seeing how Tobias decided on Dauntless and his first day among them.Plus how he got the name Four.In the Initiate you see Four as he goes throw initiation, makes friends, and tries to embrace being Dauntless. My favorite part of this story was watching Four open up some and make friends.Plus you get a scene of why he wanted to become an instituter. The Son is about how Four finds out about what really happened to his mother.I loved watching as Four decides on his place in the Dauntless community and It was intersecting to watch as the Erudite quietly and unnoticed by most start to sneak control over the Dauntless. The Traitor is the last story and this takes place during some of Divergent. This is my favorite of all the stories. You get to see Four’s feelings for Tris and how he uncovered the plot of the mass murder of Abnegation. You then get a few scenes from Divergent from Four’s PoV.I don’t see why one of the scenes wasn’t in the short story The Traitor as it took place in that timeline.I thought that was kind of useless and felt there could have been another scene in it’s place. My favorite of these scenes(only 3)was the jumper scene.I enjoyed visiting the world of Divergent again. If you have read the trilogy I recommend you read this collection. You get some more incite into Four and get to revisit the world one last time.

My Rating:4 out of 5

Content Rating:PG-13
