City of Bones Review

City of Bones coverGoodreads Summery

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end

My Review

This is one of my favorite series and I have read all 5 books at least 3 times each. This series has everything I love in a fantasy novel:Action,Adventure,Passion,Romance,Great Writing,Funny Lines, and Great Characters(hero and villain both). The world Cassandra Clare has created is magical and rich with danger lurking behind every corner. This book is told in the 3rd person and gives it so much more depth then if it had been told in the first person.I felt like I was there with the characters be it demon hunting or there romantic problems.

The heroine Clary has been keep in the dark about her past and what she is by her mother her whole life. She is very impulsive and sometimes runs into danger without thinking.I think that makes her brave and I love a character who is willing to do anything for the people they love.

Jace is the bad boy hero with a sharp wit and a tragic past.He comes off as a jerk throw most of the book. But you do see bits of the real him in the book.He is brave, conceded, sarcastic, scarred, and just as impulsive as Clary.

The chemistry between Clary and Jace sparks and burns like a log in fireplace.I love it when the leads have heat like that. The supporting characters are all great form Clary’s best friend the geeky humorous kind Simon to the mysterious and larger then life high warlock Magnus who is one of my favorite characters of all time.I loved having vampires, werewolves, faeries, warlocks, angels, and demons all in the same book.

The Big Bombshell at the end will throw you for a lope.It will leave you shouting NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!So don’t read the last pages in public. Also if you have seen the movie don’t let that stop you form reading the book.It was a complete disaster but trust me the books are so amazing. You will laugh, cry, yell, sigh, swoon, and fall in love with these characters.

rating:5 stars
